Lane25 provides mentoring and digital workshops for students and various youth programs - encouraging participation and meaningful engagement with emerging digital creative technoloy.
The aim of the workshop is to encourage youth-led innovation, social entrepreneurship and to develop technological fluency. The workshops offered, empower youth by equipping them with the skills to be able to tell their own stories and influence perceptions of their identities through digital mediums such as Moving image, Sound design and Virtual Reality.

"I have worked with Shivani for the last couple of years on projects with Shakti Youth and she is an incredible force to work with for many reasons. She has such a huge passion for the work she does and it is reflected in the content she produces and has produced for Shakti Youth.
Shivani has run numerous filming workshops for Shakti Youth with high school students and we always receive positive feedback from the students about these sessions. She is personable and encouraging when working with the students, two traits that are invaluable for anyone working with youth."
- Eun Bee Cho from Shakti Youth
"Shivani's workshops gave me a chance to explore technologies that I wouldn't have known otherwise. Her unique way of teaching helps young women like me to find our passion and mixing it with technology. It gave me confidence and I discovered my own interest through her workshop."
- Atia Irfan (student) - Shakti Youth

My name is Shivani Karan and I am the founder of Lane25.
I was born in Fiji and raised in New Zealand. I have been developing and running programs for youth in under-served communities in Auckland for the past seven years.
My personal journey has been to find purposeful outlets for creative energy. I create across multimedia fields, in audio, video, web design and technology.
I hold a Master’s degree in Communication studies from the Auckland University of technology, where I was also a lecturer for several years. Innovation in education has become a key area of interest. I want to provide opportunities for meaningful engagement with digital media and technology.
Why does this matter - It matters because the people being left behind have a voice that matters as well and it’s important that we hear all voices. It is also important that we get innovation from those with different perspectives regardless of their capability with digital technology.
Leaving these people behind is not disadvantaging them it’s disadvantaging us.
